A burnt wood text effect

This tutorial is about applying a nice trick the used an emboss text effect to generate a nice effect that looks like burnt wood.

Make this effect by navigating to this free embossed wood text generator, and set it as explained:
Text: BURNT (choose your text);
Engrave style: Engraved Letters;
Engrave deepness: Shallow;
Border damage: None;
Light Position: Right;
Font size: Big;
Text margin: Big;
Outer margin style: None;
Outer margin size: not used;
Background color: not used;
Get as a transparent PNG file: not used;
Font name: Courier New.

Doing as just told, you get a result like this (click to enlarge):

Extra tips:
- if you intend to try other fonts, I suggest you choose very thin font faces (this way you have a bigger chance to get a burnt look);
- maybe you noticed some configuration elements were not used. They don't matter because the "Outer margin style" is "None";
- the wood plate where the effect is created can have a 3D border (choose other value to the "Outer margin style" item);
- create many embossed text effects by trying this free collection of carved text generators.

Is there a text effect you would like to see here? You can ask for it commenting here or sending me an e-mail.
